4 bands played the famous yucca tap room in Tempe az. I visited for the first time since being back out here and was largely impressed with the recently renovated bar. I sat unassumingly as skeptical hipsters with Abraham Lincoln beards suspiciously eyed me down. I drank my pabst in guarded seclusion as the first band. Took the stage.
The pleasures from Florida opened up. If it was up to me they would have headlined. A 5 piece
Multi instrumental bandwith guitars and synth pounded out ambient driven hypnotic sounds fluctuating between driving rock and spacy jams. The highlight was slinky cat like female singer with half shaved jet black pixie hair. She sang in an angelic like voice very similar to sinead o Connor and bjork. I boldly proclaim.that she's better. As a matter of fact I believe she is the best female front woman in music today. It is my belief and hope that the pleasures reach a wider audience.
The next band the redemptions played a guitar driven Shoe gazer sound very much in the style of the meat puppets and dinosaur Jr.
While there were 2 other bands I sadly had to leave, but granted I surely will return
